Lower Bucks Chess Academy is proud to offer Chess lessons to any student between 1st and 12th grade. Lower Bucks transcends the simple chess club in many ways. We offer students very high quality instruction in preparation for true tournament play. Students will learn the basics and beyond, from opening strategy to middle game tactics to endgame play.

Sessions run once a week for eight weeks, from September through May. From June to August we will run summer camps. Nightly sessions are held on Wednesday nights from 7 PM to 8:30 PM. Summer camps run from Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 11 AM.

The Director of the Academy is National Master Bela Kis.

Our Philosophy

Benefits well beyond the board.

It is a fact that most of our students will not become professional chess players. It is also true that  most student athletes will not reach the professional ranks. However, we as parents do not enroll our children in these activities with such expectations in mind. We enroll them for the benefits of socialization, higher level thinking skills, healthy competition and fun. Our Academy is also attempting to fill a void in our community. There are many choices when it comes to: dance studios, athletic associations and scout/brownie troops in our area.  However, there hasn’t been a single chess club or academy in our area until now. We see it as our mission to share the magic of chess with children of all ages and abilities.
